Mrs. Perry earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University in 2002, Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University in 2006, and Masters of Arts: Professional School Counseling from Lamar University in 2013. She has many educational experiences including an emergency certification for Emotionally Impaired students and teaching in Chippewa Hills Intermediate School in Remus and White Pine Middle School in Saginaw Township. She moved to Kalamazoo to teach 4th grade, then became a Climate Culture Instructional Coach for three years, followed by 8 years as a school counselor at Linden Grove Middle School

Mr. Ray earned his Bachelor of Arts in Community and Human Services from Siena Heights University and his Master of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. Before joining the counseling profession, Mr. Ray worked in church ministry and served as a program manager at a local Kalamazoo housing agency, where he supported individuals experiencing homelessness. Mr. Ray began his journey at Loy Norrix as a counseling intern from January to June 2024 and officially joined the counseling department as a school counselor for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Washington earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology from Western Michigan University in 2011. She completed her Masters in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology from WMU in 2017. Mrs. Washington has been a proud Kalamazoo resident for several years and joined the Loy Norrix counseling department in the Fall of 2019. Mrs. Wright Newman earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Spanish from Emory University in 1997 and her Master of Arts Degree in Counselor Education from WMU in 2006. Mrs. Wright Newman has lived in Kalamazoo for many years and joined the counseling department at Loy Norrix in 2024. Prior to that, she was a school counselor at the middle school, high school and post-secondary levels as well as a Career Development Consultant with Kalamazoo RESA.
